CLIMATE CHANGE MASTER PLAN AND THE ENERGY EVOLUTION MODEL
PRESENTATION BY WASTE WATCH OTTAWA

“Thank you for the opportunity to make a brief presentation here today. Waste watch Ottawa encourages you to adopt the recommendation to reduce corporate city of Ottawa GHG emissions by 100% below 2012 levels by 2040. This is a challenging target but one that is entirely consistent with council’s declaration of a climate emergency.

“In support of the recommendation and to ensure that the target is woven into all that the city does we would strongly urge that the solid waste master plan that is underway explicitly adopt a similar 2040 zero emissions target. All future waste management program and technology options that are identified during the planning process should be reviewed and evaluated through a climate change lens and with the goal of a zero-emission waste management system by 2040, if not earlier.”
